At least in the manga Rebecca does bring up Grumman as being a “dirty old man” who isone of the reasons she wants to quit this “lousy job”. I don’t like that him harassing Rebecca is played so lightly, it’s territory you see a lot of shonen dip into and it’s dissapointing to see FMA do so when it’s usually so good about avoiding that. Uggh and this is why I hate General Grumman. How can you not adore Izumi, our terrifying housewife who can literally take on an army. “NOBODY SCREWS UP MORE THAN ME!” He’s going to keep going despite it, and genuinely try to change and learn along the way. Like, he’s aware that his entire life has been a series of bad decisions and horrible things and self hatred and you know, he owns that. He’s so up front and cheerful about what huge screw up he is a lot of the time. Man this weirdly sums up a lot of what I love about Ed. “HA! MY WHOLE LIFE HAS BEEN A LESSON IN REGRET!” “Being my henchman means living in the shadows! Sure you won’t REGRET IT?” But now he’s grown up a little and realizes it’s essentially the same as agreeing to work under the corrupt military. “Greedling” is now a canon nickname THANX ED KNEW WE COULD COUNT ON U!!! (seriously, apparently Arakawa was making a nod to the fans here by including the name, they’d already been smushing up Ling and Greed’s name, as you could imagine)Įd agrees to work under Greed to get the info he needs! Huuuge character development here, he would have been too prideful to do this before, as Greed’s flashback illustrates. “Who are you” “I’m a homunculus” WELL JUST PUT IT ALL OUT THERE LING.Įd’s foolproof method for delaying homunculus possession: I have more horror stories from it than I have from literally any fandom I’ve been in that wasn’t superhero comics.)Īnyway I was supposed to be talking about the episode. Other Ed/Winry shipping stories include someone responding to a joking post about Ed and Winry having sex with “GO FUCK YOURSELF” basically FMA fandom is….really special. Probably their intense rudeness and inability to have perspective about a silly post pair of earrings was due to being sixteen, but I didn’t know that at the time so I messed with them for a while, which led to the first ever flame war caused by a post about a dude dramatically flourishing some earrings. ….and the two kids got SO MAD about that post, they told me and I quote “SHUT UP THAT’S NOT CANON IT’S HEADCANON LEARN THE DIFFERENCE”. Maybe he even showed them to Greedling and bros once (One time I made a joking post on tumblr that went like this: It’s canon Ed took the earrings out and looked at them when he was feeling down too you know? I bet he sometimes like curled up at night clutching them to his chest like “omg Winry I wish you were withhh meeee” WE KNOW YOU’RE REALLY PROUD SHE GAVE THEM TO YOU. ED REALLY WANTS TO SHOW US HE HAS WINRY’S EARRINGS. THAT IS THE MOST DRAMATIC HOLDING OF EARRINGS I HAVE EVER SEEN. Badass she may be, but she’s very young so she’s allowed to be impulsive and naïve, and those have always been traits of hers. Some of my friends were annoyed May was tricked so easily, but c’mon, it’s easy to forget, but she’s TWELVE. ![]() ![]() Thanks to Envy’s scheming, it looks like May’s sticking around! You can scheme all you want if it means we get more of May, Envy. In the manga, May actually stayed with the Youswell miners and saved them from some trouble when she first came into the country, so the scene plays differently. Of course, with Olivier, it’s hard to tell. ![]() If they lived happily together in the mansion while the rest of the family was gone, wouldn’t Alex surely be threatened to control Olivier? It’s best for her to estrange him completely. I wonder if a bit of her harshness to Alex is to discourage him from getting too involved in her undercover op, and so she can make it look like he can’t be used against her to the higher-ups. ![]() Underneath it all, she’s looking out for their well-being. It was sporting of Alex not to use alchemy, but also means Olivier inevitably curbstomps him, to a hilarious extent.Īlex is probably correct in divining Olivier’s intentions in getting her family out of the country. “Alex, duel your sister.” SUDDENLY SO MUCH IS EXPLAINED ABOUT BOTH ALEX AND OLIVIER. I love that Dad Armstrong has a GIANT PORTRAIT of himself. Noticably, the last flashback we see is Ling fighting Bradley while carrying Lan Fan, indicating Ling’s starting to take back control there (probably why Greed leaves). The animation in the fights between Greed and Bradley is off the HOOK.
